Greetings from Neumann Gruppe GmbH, the holding company of NKG!
Within NKG, our name is sometimes invoked with a sigh, sometimes with a shrug. At times, we generate work the value of which seems hard to grasp and we always seem to be wanting something. But, if you need us, our help, support or input, we are there for you 24/7 – unconditionally. Also, if you have a great idea!
We represent the center of the group, and we see our primary responsibilities in giving each and every company the tools they need to successfully operate their respective and varied businesses and in developing our business overall, giving it direction and diversity and pulling it together to something much larger than the sum of its parts – NKG.
Right now, we are attempting to do what may perhaps be a lot to process at once, but we are convinced that in difficult times in our business is where we find the opportunities and core of tomorrow. The challenges are evolving, and so do we need to: us in Hamburg as well as NKG leadership and colleagues. While we create synergies through centralizing traditionally non-core activities, we are also learning on the go and making mistakes – together we own up to them, learn from them and move on – better than before.
In this issue of NKG Connected, we want to share insights into what we do in Hamburg and how this is totally related to the operations in our group companies: Which expertise do we have in our departments? What are the topics we are working on and why are they important for everyone at NKG?
Where you see organizational weakness and doubtable priorities, talk to us and help us constructively. But please be assured, all in all, we know exactly where we want to be and how to get there.
Have a great summer – or winter – and a successful second half of the year.

In this issue, please join us in congratulating Alexandre Ferraz for his outstanding commitment to fairness, respect and team spirit in all parts of his life. Alexandre has been with NKG since 2008, when he joined the team at NKG Stockler, and took a big step in 2021 by relocating to Hamburg and joining the team at Bernhard Rothfos as a Senior Trader. He is celebrated by colleagues from all over the group!
NKG’s greatest strengths are the diversity of our businesses, our teams and our people. But what is it that makes each team work so well? What motivates them, what are their strengths and what are their challenges? To find out, we asked three colleagues from three very different working environments. Our Three by Three questions are answered this time by NKG colleagues from a farm, an exporting and an importing company.
Neumann Gruppe in Hamburg consists of departments with a diverse variety of functions and competencies, which both serve the general strategic orientation of NKG and provide specific support for the group companies. Some departments and services are already known to many, while others have been working more in the background. We would like to use our NKG Connected to close this gap and have therefore initiated the “who is who” series. Here, we want to look at what competencies exist in the holding company, for whom these could be helpful and interesting, who is responsible for what, and a lot more.
The Neumann Kaffee Gruppe Partnership to Advance Coffee Equity has officially entered its second year. As the class of 2024 Partners find their new routines and shake off any early-days nervousness, an overriding theme is becoming clear. While the program has been meticulously planned – it has an updated and more comprehensive curriculum, as well as set lecture and Speaker Series schedules, and bi-weekly calibrations and check-ins – it is, perhaps exactly because of its sturdy foundation, wonderfully adaptable.
