New for each of us and the same for all of us: Our new HR System Workday

Group Human Resources has big and exciting news: A global Human Resources System (HRS) called Workday will be rolled out within NKG. Workday is a state-of-the-art HRS, that offers great benefits for each individual employee, promises to simplify our HR processes, and increases efficiency and data security at NKG. It will be the first time in the history of NKG that all companies and employees worldwide use the same HRIS. What an exciting step for all of us together!

Every NKG employee will benefit from the new system. You will get easy access to holiday bookings, overviews of attendance and absences, direct access to your own personal data and documents, and everything is easily accessible via desktop and an app.

Workday will enable our HR departments to automate and digitize our HR processes, saving valuable time and resources that can be used for strategic HR initiatives to stay competitive. With Workday, we can more efficiently manage our workforce and HR data across NKG, from hiring to retirement.

Another key benefit of Workday is its data analytics and reporting capabilities. These capabilities give us real-time insight into our HR metrics, such as employee engagement, turnover rates, and diversity and inclusion. With this information, we can make more informed decisions and develop data-driven strategies to drive business growth.

Maren Uzarek, Director Group Human Resources: “The global implementation of Workday is a crucial step towards digital transformation, driving efficiency and adding value to our organization. We encourage everyone to embrace this change and work together to make this project a success.

Orga Chart
The implementation of Workday is group-wide teamwork

As you can see from the organizational chart, the international and cross-functional project team is led by Group HR in Hamburg and supported by PwC Germany. Key functions are first of all in the hands of our Regional Heads of HR and the local HR staff in the NKG companies worldwide, who have a lot of extra work to do before the system goes live, so they deserve special praise for their efforts at this point!

What will happen and when?

As of now, many important steps have already been taken: The first employee data has already been collected and imported and the most important HR processes from all companies have been requested and prepared for the system. Currently, our global HR processes are being defined, always taking into accounts local needs and standards.

Before Workday goes live, all employees will of course receive training and information on how the system works. There will be enough time and lead-in for all questions so that everyone can quickly and easily find their way around the new system, both in the desktop version and the app. From December 2023 on, Workday is supposed to be available to all employees and will be considered our leading HR-System within NKG. From January 2024 on, additional functions will be implemented.

Reflecting on past processes and enabling a glimpse into the future: NKG Sustainability Report

Last year, we published our Sustainability Report in a completely new structure, format and design. Launched in 2020, our Responsible Business Program served as a basis for the definition of (most) KPIs and the (following) data collection. This year, there will be an internal report focusing on data rather than design and a shortened external version. So, while we are waiting for the next report, Melissa Chavana, Camila Engel and Nicole Ochojski, who are responsible for the data collection, will give you a little glimpse behind the scenes on how the first reporting process with the new software WeSustain went last year, what they are working on right now and what you can expect to come up next.

Mail from NG Comms: A personal update

It is quite easy to write about synergies, group feelings and close relationships – to really live this group identity and strengthen a feeling of belonging and connection is something incredibly more difficult. We at NG Comms are aware of this discrepancy between talking and writing about something and actually living it. Thus, communicating with all of you is one of our top priorities, especially through publications like our Connected.
