Sok Keng Tang

Sok Keng Tang started her career at NKG as a finance assistant more than 24 years ago. Right now, she is Chief Financial Officer for Bero Coffee Singapore and the Integrated Operation in Asia, consisting of Bero Coffee Singapore, NG Vietnam and Berindo Jaya.

Sok Keng also takes care of the management accounting for New Guinea Highlands Coffee Exports and Bero Coffee Japan. She loves the opportunity to travel to places she would never imagine to go to. At NKG, she met people of diverse cultures and nationalities, some of whom even became friends.

How did you first discover your passion for coffee?

I didn’t know much about coffee before I started working for NKG. After years of working for NKG, the passion for coffee started to develop. My work offers the opportunity to travel to producing countries. Seeing the trees, the beans and the people behind this delicious drink gave a different meaning to it. It means daily life, livelihood, hopes and dreams for many families. I am fortunate to be a part of this supply chain.

What makes you laugh a lot?
Comedies.
What are you most grateful for in your life?

Grateful for the trust and freedom my parents gave me to make choices.

What is the most important thing to do on your bucket list and why?

To go on holiday with my mother while she is still fit to travel.

What would you do if you won one million in the lottery?

I would allocate a small portion to people I care about; the rest will go to investment fund that will eventually pay for some of the items in my bucket list!

What would you try if you know you can only succeed?

I would be an entrepreneur, if I knew if I could only succeed.

How do you relax best after a busy day at work?

Yoga, reading a book or watching a short documentary program about cooking or home renovation.

What is the most beautiful place you have ever been to?

At this moment I would name New Zealand. The country has a diverse landscape, ranging from spectacular glaciers, picturesque fiords, rugged mountains, vast plains, subtropical forest, volcanic plateau, and miles of coastline with gorgeous sandy beaches.   

How do you make your coffee at home (Capsules, pads, filter, bean-to-cup coffee machine)?

I use capsules and filter. I have a small hand grinder, which I use on weekends only.

Tom Gammer started his career with NKG in October 2005 as Back Office Administrator and joined InterAmerican Coffee in May 2011 as Trader/Quality Controller. Gerrit Krüger became part of NKG in 2009. Following an internship at InterAmerican Coffee in Hamburg, he took over responsibility as Specialty Trader and was promoted to Senior Trader in January 2018. We are very excited that they are giving us a chance to get to know them better in this Connected issue.
