Ruben Scholz

Ruben Scholz was 23 years old when he joined NKG – and has never left the group since. In his almost 26 years at NKG, he has not only first developed his passion for drinking coffee during intense cupping sessions in the Quality lab. He has also gone through all Trade-related positions from Junior Trader to Managing Director at Bernhard Rothfos, Managing Director of Bero Coffee Singapore to hir current position as Group COO at Neumann Gruppe GmbH.
He has always enjoyed the positive working environment combined with a family-owned company culture where the trust and commercial freedom of the management and shareholder can materialize ideas into businesses.
“I have never worked outside coffee and NKG. It all started with my apprenticeship at Bernhard Rothfos GmbH on 1st of August 1997. “

How do you relax best after a busy day at work?

I really enjoy listening to good music on the car ride back home from work, which can vary, depending on the mood, from Metallica to Classic. Then, a good workout or a round of Golf is very satisfying.

What is the most beautiful place you have ever been to?

Culturally, I was really impressed by Macchu Picchu, Peru and Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Emotionally, I have very good memories to the Spanish Stairs in Rome where I asked my wife to marry me.

What would you do if you won one million in the lottery?

I would invest part of it for both of my kids and share the rest with our families.

What are you most grateful for in your life?

For the great childhood I could enjoy with my parents, meeting my wife and the family we raised together and the good health that my family and friends could enjoy up to now.

How do you make your coffee at home (capsules, pads, filter, bean-to-cup coffee machine)?

At home I enjoy Nespresso capsules, mostly Lungo Vienna.

What makes you laugh a lot?
I can really laugh watching comedy formats like LOL-last one laughing, or smart stand-up comedians.
What would you try if you know you can only succeed?
That could be anything… learning to fly would be great.
What is the most important thing to do on your bucket list and why?

That list is always full and in constant movement in terms of priority. Recently, I wanted to cycle from Hamburg to Lake Constance crossing Germany with my Gravel bike.

“I am really grateful for the great childhood I could enjoy with my parents, for meeting my wife and for the family we raised together and the good health that my family and friends could enjoy up to now.”

Interview with Gökhan Kücük

Gökhan Kücük became part of NKG a little more than a year ago as a Senior Controller at Neumann Gruppe Hamburg. Coffee for him was not really a “love at first sip”, but the strong Turkish Mocca Gökhan tried from his parents nevertheless initiated his passion for our product. Here at NKG, he especially likes the supportive environment and the openness from all colleagues around him.

NKG Holding “who is who”: Introducing NG Coaching

Neumann Gruppe in Hamburg consists of departments with a diverse variety of functions and competencies, which both serve the general strategic orientation of NKG and provide specific support for the group companies. Some departments and services are already known to many, while others have been working more in the background. We would like to use our NKG Connected to close this gap and have therefore initiated the “who is who” series. Here, we want to look at what competencies exist in the holding company, for whom these could be helpful and interesting, who is responsible for what, and a lot more.

Welcoming the Newest NKG PACE Partners: We’re Finding Strength in Flexibility

The Neumann Kaffee Gruppe Partnership to Advance Coffee Equity has officially entered its second year. As the class of 2024 Partners find their new routines and shake off any early-days nervousness, an overriding theme is becoming clear. While the program has been meticulously planned – it has an updated and more comprehensive curriculum, as well as set lecture and Speaker Series schedules, and bi-weekly calibrations and check-ins – it is, perhaps exactly because of its sturdy foundation, wonderfully adaptable.
