Dear Friends & Colleagues, this edition of NKG Connected is the 1st one that we have prepared as a fully electronic edition. Next to real cost savings, this also allows us to be more current and offer more varied kinds of inputs for you, including different kinds of media. NG Communications has put great effort into it, and we hope you enjoy the format – and of course the contents. Our plan is also to continue to have one printed version of NKG Connected per year. In this edition, we describe what has changed and where positive innovations and developments have taken place as direct consequences of the pandemic, from events to meetings, webinars, work events and interviews. We will surely continue to use and enjoy many of these newer possibilities. Personally though, and I am sure I speak for many of you, I direly miss the personal and human interaction and dialogue, from daily chatter to important issues. I miss the meandering conversations that often lead to new ideas and start a creative or personal process. One misses the trips, visits and visitors with the thoughts, sentiments and impressions they bring with them and which can be shared. We have learned to appreciate these things that were so normal before and with that, we can look forward to having them back when it is responsibly possible for all of us. The lack of real and personal contact is challenging and tiring, but we are happy to have the technical possibilities that we have. Nevertheless, I think we have learned what it really means to say that “Coffee is a people´s business” and I can’t wait for it to be like that again, full offices and all. I for one can hardly wait to have my colleagues come by my desk for a cup of coffee again. I wish all of you a good, sunny and safe summer – or a mild winter, depending on where you may be.

FOCUS – NEW HABITS

FOCUS #4

Despite Covid-19 restrictions, roaster clients and employees of NKG found a way to discuss important market developments at “NKG Roaster Day 2021”. For the first time, the event took place in a virtual environment – a challenging and inspiring experience at the same time. Usually, planning an NKG-event starts long before the actual “date of happening”. Searching for a suitable location, organizing catering and accommodation for guests or booking flights, just to name a few things that need to be organized well in advance.

FOCUS #5

Did you notice that since the outbreak of the pandemic, NKG’s IT team has probably been among the people you talked to most frequently? The IT department has been instrumental in keeping the operation running over the last few months. Read more about the team and their key areas of work.
