What was your first job related to coffee?
Setting up the NKG BLOOM farmer services unit for Ibero Uganda Ltd.; What profession did you want to be when you were a kid? Volcanologist (and I still want to see an erupting volcano); How do you relax best after a busy day at work?
I dance at home with my kids (and drink a glass of wine).
What type of series do you usually watch (Drama, Comedy, SciFi etc.)? A bit of everything (from Narcos to the Queen passing by Lupin).
What was your first job related to coffee? In 1989, at a coffee brokerage company Coffee Trading Agency in Antwerp, Belgium; What profession did you want to be when you were a kid? From police officer, fireman, F1 racer to airline pilot
How do you relax best after a busy day at work?
Listening to some good easy listening music, mostly jazz, with something to read; What book are you currently reading? Sapiens, a brief history of Humankind
When Alexandre Ferraz came to Hamburg for a trainee program at IAC and BR in 2010, one of his aims was to use the time for an intensive German course. Nicolaus Fallmeier, who studied in Brazil in 2006 and wanted to practice his Portuguese, was very pleased to hear of the Brazilian colleague – and so they first got to know each other.
Even before the Covid-19 crisis aggravated the existing problems in logistics, NKG Board of Management decided on a remarkable project: the start of the digitization of several steps of the coffee supply chain. With support from ICL (Internationale Commodity Logistik), the implementation of the platform TradeLens has been initiated. TradeLens offers the realization of transparency about where to find the coffee at each moment and enables digital document and data handling.
That inequality between White and Black Americans in the U.S. is still immense has been clearly demonstrated by the incidents and protests of recent months. Unfortunately, the U.S. coffee industry is no exception. The situation cannot be glossed over: Black Americans experience the largest gap in employment and decision-making roles. Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG) has always acted on behalf of producers and those in the coffee supply chain most in need of attention.
NKG Quality Service, with the support of the IT development team in Mexico, developed a new way of speaking about coffee quality: the NKG Quality Control System enables easier communication by finding the balance between standardization and flexibility.
For more than 20 years, Nestlé has been one of the leading customers of Exportadora de Café California (ECC) in Mexico. Now, a new Nestlé plant built next to ECC enables further opportunities for future collaboration. With their competences from longstanding experience, ECC is one of the main suppliers of Nestlé in Mexico.

In 2020, NKG Stockler moved their head offices from Santos to Varginha, Brazil, the so-called “heart of coffee”. Next to rebuilt warehouse units with latest technologies for production lines and inventory management, a brand-new office area had been completed shortly before the previous NKG Connected issue in December 2020 was published. At the beginning of the year, the team moved into the premises, which had been completed by then.
