Interview with Gökhan Kücük

Gökhan Kücük became part of NKG a little more than a year ago as a Senior Controller at Neumann Gruppe Hamburg. Coffee for him was not really a “love at first sip”, but the strong Turkish Mocca Gökhan tried from his parents nevertheless initiated his passion for our product. Here at NKG, he especially likes the supportive environment and the openness from all colleagues around him.

NKG Holding “who is who”: Introducing NG Coaching

Neumann Gruppe in Hamburg consists of departments with a diverse variety of functions and competencies, which both serve the general strategic orientation of NKG and provide specific support for the group companies. Some departments and services are already known to many, while others have been working more in the background. We would like to use our NKG Connected to close this gap and have therefore initiated the “who is who” series. Here, we want to look at what competencies exist in the holding company, for whom these could be helpful and interesting, who is responsible for what, and a lot more.

Mixed feelings in Vietnam: Thomas Weiske celebrates his farewell

As he bids farewell to NKG in April, Thomas Weiske looks back on an incredible 31 years with the Neumann Gruppe Vietnam. Two farewell events were held for him, one with all employees and another with business contacts, friends and family, as well as Group CEO David M. Neumann as the host, colleagues from Singapore and the management team from Vietnam. At the same time, his successor Edward Helmond received a warm welcome in his new position. For Thomas, his time with the Neumann Gruppe Vietnam was characterized by highlights, the love for our product and great teamwork. Before he leaves, we were allowed to ask a few quick questions and gain some insight into his thoughts on the festivities. Thanks again, Thomas, and all the best for the future!

Finding opportunities: From strategy to action

In the last issues, we have introduced you to a lot of strategic topics. One was of course the goal 20/200, which explains the importance of growth for us at NKG to be sustainably successful. Another focus was on the changes happening right now and how past and current challenges are mirrored in our values and have strengthened the commitment for them for us as a group. Now, we would like to get into more detail: Where do we already see opportunities and how do we deal with them? How can we live an open, flexible mindset and implement agile business? A great example we would like to show you is our business in Asia.

Interview with Nicolas Rueda

Nicolas Rueda Latiff just joined NKG as CEO at Neumann Gruppe USA on 1st of October. NKG has crossed his professional path on several occasions before: First, when he was working at the FNC. Later, as a “friendly competitor”. Nicolas’ career in coffee started in the Netherlands, where he worked as a trainee at The Mild Coffee Company. He was trained the “good old fashion way” and had to do a bit of everything, including the preparations of faxes, yes, still widely used back then, and coffee, – which led him to learning to appreciate the diversity of the green coffees in the coffee lab. Later on, he was assigned the French & Belgium freeze dried coffee clients. He first realized he became a coffee geek when he a “one track coffee mind” (he started to think about coffee all the time). His passion for the product further developed while visiting his first origin: Colombia. “Although I was born in Colombia, being in the coffee fields as part of my work was a great discovery: knowing the stories and the faces behind the product directly from the producers on the field made me realize that coffee had gotten into my veins. 23 years later, it is still there.” At NKG, Nicolas likes the fact that we are dedicated to coffee only the challenge of keeping the edge through agility, knowledge, and passion. Though writing this he did not have the chance to work with the colleagues a lot yet, he finds the mix between experience, tradition, new and young faces to look promising.

Interview with Thuy Pham

Thuy Pham’s first job related to coffee was as a coffee trader at NKG Rep. Office Vietnam (in charge of Rothfos Corporation account). She discovered her passion for coffee when she was able to learn more about the coffee supply chain and the story behind every good cup of coffee – which is all about the hard and good work of the coffee farmers, the collectors, processors, traders, logistic people, roasters, distributors … Starting as a coffee trader 26 years ago, Thuy works at NKG for 26 years. After becoming deputy director, her current position is now Chief Representative of NKG Rep. Office in Vietnam. What she likes most about her work at NKG is the working atmosphere at NKG and her office, where they have “a very good team with dedicated, hardworking but sympathetic people”, as Thuy says. “For us, going to work is like going to our second home, we can work with our enthusiasm but without feeling pressure”, she adds. How does she answer our questions? Find out in the following!
