How local approaches enable global success

What is it that makes us as NKG so unique in the coffee world? Of course, it is the dedication to the one product we all love: coffee! But – we are a lot more than this. Every group company and every employee has so much knowledge and expertise in their respective field, that together, we are a unique global community.

Yet, current times throw new challenges at us constantly, and we are in an ongoing process of adapting to the demanded changes and developments. Global issues we are all confronted with – like for instance climate change and a constantly increasing number of regulations – might seem overwhelming and complex, but that does not mean that we should fall into a state of shock and stop moving – quite the contrary, we are in the fortunate position that through all our group companies world-wide, there are many great, pragmatic approaches to local requirements and challenges showing us how to keep going. Finding individual approaches on a local scale means that we can function and continue as a global group. And each company thus contributes to our success and really makes it possible at all!

David M. Neumann,
Group CEO

“One of the main reasons we at NKG were always in a strong position is that through our diverse network of group companies in various markets and environments, there have always been companies doing well in times when others were facing difficulties. Especially in fast paced times , NKG can be a huge support and a kind of ‘safety network’. The group companies have the freedom to try new approaches and find out what works for them because, in the end, they have the group that has their backs. And this is one of our main strengths at NKG enabling us to be innovative and adapt to changes and challenges. We are working on becoming more agile and nimble – quickly.”

Individual commitment, collective success

As you can see: Your individual commitment plays an important role in our collective success and so does everything going on in the group companies. To enable this commitment, it is important to encourage participation and dialogue and perhaps even more important to actively listen and learn from each other’s experiences. By making our diverse perspectives visible and sharing success stories and best practices, we can enrich our collective knowledge and strengthen our group in the long run. It also allows us to showcase success, inspire other companies, and foster a culture of learning and growth within our group – and that’s exactly what we would like to start emphasizing more in this issue of our INSIDE NKG MAG! We will also pursue this concept in our future communication: there will be more insights into our group companies’ perspectives, invitations for all of you to participate, and we will thus make sure that we enhance the visibility of all the great local approaches.

So, how are we going to do this?

In this issue of our INSIDE NKG MAG, we literally let the group companies speak: Some of the articles are written directly by colleagues from the group companies – and not by the NG Communications team in Hamburg as usually – reflecting their unique perspectives and experiences. You will find insights into the premises of Berindo Jaya accompanied by a text by Intan Saraswati, an interview from Michelle Maisto with Kayd Whalen on the latest trends in coffee beverages and the US American market, and a Cupping at Bero Polska by Agnieszka Gomulkiewicz and Maks Mazurkiewicz, who talk about the development of the Eastern European market and shifts in customer’s expectations and demand – all of them are really interesting reads and highly recommended! The articles are authored by the mentioned communication colleagues, each bringing a distinct voice and insight to the table. To also introduce you to these colleagues, each article is accompanied by an “About the Author” box, to give you a short glimpse into the writer’s background. A huge thank you again to our colleagues Agnieszka, Michelle, and Intan, who supported us with our MAG, and also to all other colleagues who contributed and participated with insights into how the companies deal with current topics and challenges, for instance: Our 3 x 3 questions are this time concerned with the EUDR, we present the innovative construction project of the new mill in Uganda, and we talk about the market developments in Asia.

We are convinced: We all benefit from facilitating more exchange and mutual support through networking and cooperation. We are one group with so many different perspectives – let’s work on getting the best out of this for all of us at NKG! And yes: This is an invitation to share your ideas with us, get into contact and let us know if there is anything we could work on together to share even more insights and perspectives. We do want to do better on exchanging ideas and perspectives, and we can only do it together with all of you!

It's your turn
